Could an increase in the natural flora of Candida in your body contribute to reduced fertility? Candida is a natural occurring yeast that inhabits our skin, intestines and in the vagina that normally helps keep balance and health.
In fact there are over 20 species of Candida known to the human body. But when it thrives and overgrows in the form on candida albicans, it can create a big health issue and may risk your fertility.

It does this by the unbalanced vaginal flora makes it harder for the sperm to reach the uterus. There is higher chances of other vaginal infections and when they go undiagnosed and untreated can lead to bigger health problems. Antibodies are produced and are housed in utero which affect the ovaries. Candida is infectious so avoiding sex is advised to eliminate infecting your partner. Unborn babies can contract thrush in the mouth when exiting the birth canal. It is well documented that babies can then re-contaminate the mother via the nipples during breastfeeding.

In most cases, Candida arises because of poor diet. Add to that the overuse of antibiotics, steroids, contraceptive pill, stress, emotional or physical trauma and the body shifts the balance off the scales

Symptoms include: Cravings for sweets, alcohol, bloating, flatulence, vaginal thrush, changes in bowel habits, irritable bowel syndrome, depression, fatigue, sinusitis, low energy and brain fog.

The visual symptoms include thick whitish discharge, resembling cottage cheese and bread like colour. There may even be swelling and cracking of the vulva. Another symptom is a burning sensation during or after sexual intercourse and urination.
